172 Kampus Muhammadiyah Bersatu Gelar Aksi Bela Palestina

Yogyakarta, CNN Indonesia -- Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) menggelar aksi Bela Palestina dan Kutuk Israel. Aksi ini diklaim dilakukan serentak di 172 kampus yang berada di bawah naungan Forum Rektor Perguruan Tinggi Muhammadiyah dan Aisiyah (FR PTMA).
Aksi diikuti ratusan civitas academica UMY terdiri dari mahasiswa, dosen, dan tenaga kependidikan. Banyak dari mereka membawa bendera, spanduk, poster bernada pro Palestina, sekaligus mendesak dihentikannya agresi Israel.
'(Aksi) ini bersamaan dengan seluruh warga Muhammadiyah yang ada di Indonesia, ada 172 perguruan tinggi, serta ratusan sekolah mulai dari SMP dan SMA yang hari ini hadir bersama-sama di seantero Indonesia,' kata Wakil Rektor UMY, Faris Al-Fadhat dalam orasinya, Selasa (7/5).
UMY bersama seluruh warga Muhammadiyah merasa prihatin atas serangan Israel ke Palestina sejak Oktober 2023 yang menimbulkan setidaknya 34 ribu korban jiwa dan lebih dari 78 ribu orang luka.
Faris menekankan, aksi ini digaungkan bukan semata karena kesamaan identitas agama, melainkan sebagai amanat konstitusi termaktub dalam pembukaan UUD 1945 tentang pembebasan atas penjajahan dan penindasan.
