JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Penyakit jantung merupakan salah satu penyebab kematian utama di seluruh dunia. Sayangnya, banyak orang tak sadar memiliki masalah jantung hingga muncul serangan.

Ahli jantung dari Rumah Sakit Mount Elizabeth, Singapura, Dinesh Nair mengatakan, ada banyak masalah jantung. Gejalanya sering kali tidak muncul sehingga banyak orang tak sadar ada masalah pada jantungnya.

Dinesh mengungkapkan, masalah jantung bisa disebabkan oleh kelainan bawaan, genetik, dan gaya hidup yang tidak sehat.

Risiko yang dapat meningkatkan penyakit jantung antara lain merokok, minum alkohol, berat badan berlebih atau obesitas, tekanan darah tinggi, Kolesterol, stres, penyumbatan aliran pernapasan, hingga kurang aktif bergerak. Apabila memiliki faktor risiko tersebut, segeralah periksa kesehatan jantung.

Meski demikian, mereka yang merasa telah menjalankan gaya hidup sehat, seperti rutin berolahraga, tidak banyak konsumsi makanan berlemak, atau tidak merokok, bukan berarti tidak perlu mengecek kesehatan jantungnya. Hal ini karena masalah jantung yang sebenarnya sudah ada sejak kecil, terkadang baru muncul saat usia dewasa.
